Dear Group Planner:

Greetings from Valley Forge National Historical Park.

Over the past several years, the National Park Service (NPS) and its partners have made significant investments to improve the visitor experience at Valley Forge. At the same time, we’ve enhanced group tour services through a unique partnership with the Valley Forge Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Our next step toward improving the group experience is to establish a new reservation system for all groups of 10 or more visiting the Park. Although the system officially goes into effect beginning January 1, 2010, you’re encouraged to start making group reservations now.

This change, which follows the rehabilitation of Washington’s Headquarters and renovation and re-opening of the Valley Forge Train Station, will result in a significantly more rewarding experience for your customers who will, henceforth, be guided through the former by NPS Rangers.

Ranger-led walking tours to the Headquarters building depart from the 1920s-era Train Station every 20 minutes daily. Knowing when your group is going to arrive will ensure that it will be best accommodated there and at other sites in the Park, including the Visitor Center and Encampment Store, Theater, Muhlenberg Brigade huts, National Memorial Arch and Varnum’s Quarters.

The reservation service is free, as is admission to all park facilities. We’ve made the process as quick and easy as possible for you. Simply visit www.ValleyForgeGroups.org and complete the on-line reservation form. You will receive a reservation confirmation within 48 hours. When possible, please try to give us at least 30 days notice of your group’s arrival.

Based upon your input and feedback, we expect to modify this process as it moves forward (one of the reasons we ask you to begin using it before its official implementation). If you have any questions regarding this new system or group visits in general, please contact Ann Marie Maher, Cooperative Sales and Marketing Director, at 610-783-1006 or vfpark@valleyforge.org

For our new Fall/Winter program guide, student programs and 2010 event information, please visit the Park web site at www.nps.gov/vafo  For group itineraries, hotel assistance and general information about visiting the Valley Forge area, please visit www.valleyforge.org or e-mail tours@valleyforge.org.

Thank you for your continued support of Valley Forge National Historical Park. We look forward to welcoming you soon.

Sincerely,

Mike Caldwell
